Viagra, a possible treatment

VIAGRA is usually prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction (ED), but there might be a new use for Viagra

Patients of duchenne muscular dystrophy will experience heart problems at about age 10 and these problems can progress quiet rapidly. Heart conditions such as these mostly contributes to death in duchenne patients

The researchers from the Montreal Heart Institute has carried a new study on mice to show that Viagra might be a possibility in eradicating heart problems/conditions in patients with muscular dystrophy

The active ingredient in Viagra (Sildenafil) was given to the mouse that has an equivalent of duchenne muscular dystrophy, giving the mice the same dosage that will be prescribed to treat erectile dysfunction in men. The result of this study shows that the heart performance was significantly improved by contracting the heart muscles.
