Motability Scheme

Motability Scheme.

If you are receiving Mobility allowance for your child then you are entitled to the Motability Scheme.
The majority of people choose to lease their car through Motability’s Contract Hire. This gives you a new car every 3 to 5 years. Years and you can choose which car you would like to receive. Insurance and personal accident cover, servicing and maintenance, full break down assistance from RAC, free replacement tyres fitted by Kwik-fit and window or windscreen replacement.
Some people prefer to buy their own car. In these cases the Hire Purchase Scheme is probably the way to go. With this you negotiate the purchase price with your motability dealership. However you are responsible for organising your own comprehensive insurance, your own break down recovery, car tax disc, servicing and repairs. Also if you choose this option you must be in receipt of the allowance for the full length of your agreement.

Please be aware however that if you need a vehicle that is wheelchair accessible then a down payment may be needed. You will not get this back and when you renew your car you will have to start again from new.
