Pharmacological Approaches
Steroids or corticosteroids are our only prescribed weapon aginst the effects of Duchenne. The search in on to find new drugs and semi genetic approaches to find other ways of treating the symptoms of Duchenne. Some small molecule drugs like PTC124 are capable of affecting changes in the gene by reading through single point variations. Other small molecues like Summits SMT C1100 are being developed to upregulate Utrophin.
