The Challenge!

200 MILES - 200 HOURS. PERSEREVERANCE, COMMITMENT & ENDURANCE - RAISING VITAL FUNDS TO FIND A CURE FOR DUCHENNE MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY.

At 11.30pm, after a night in the pub, the decision was made that it all seemed a bit too easy and we needed to make this expedition a bit more challenging. So the 12 to 15 days went out the window, as did the comfy bed and the home cooked food at the B & Bs and guest houses.

This is what we came up with instead:

• 200 miles in 200 hours (Just over 8 days to be precise)
• Sleeping in tents.
• Cooking for ourselves with limited supplies.
• Navigating the route from start to finish using nothing more than a map and compass.
• Carrying a Wheelchair for the duration of the route to raise awareness of Duchenne.

Now that sounds like a challenge.

About Us

The Team

Dan ‘if it’s not raining its not training’ Searson – Spent years in the service of HM Forces before hanging up his boots to set up a training and events company in Manchester. Led the 2008 expedition up Mount Kenya and is looking forward once more, to wearing his cherry flavoured edible underpants. Dan is the leader of the expedition and responsible for all navigation and logistics.

Mark ‘I’m only coming for the sheep’ Smaje – Originally from Yorkshire, Mark is passionate about the outdoors and is particularly looking forward to crossing the Pennines. Despite his grey appearance, Mark is the youngest of the group and has the responsibility of second navigator and is the keeper of the expedition diary.

Sheldon ‘All the gear no idea’ Kaye – Has spent more money on equipment than Sir Ranulph Fiennes and has a tent so large it might as well have gates and a doorbell. Despite his boyish looks, Sheldon is the oldest of the group and is responsible for PR, cooking advice and evening entertainment.

Joe ‘has anyone seen my moisturiser’ Babicki – A former Army Doctor who served in the same Regiment as Dan and has attended many of the same expeditions. Joe is responsible for welfare, medical care and post expedition beauty products.

Expedition Support

Neil ‘you owe me’ Johnson – Responsible for all expedition admin including setting up camp, food, equipment maintenance and transport. Neil is dependable and always willing to help – but only if you thank him 5 times a day!

The challenge

This is a very challenging event in terms of perseverance, commitment and endurance. The objective of the event is to raise as much money and awareness for Action Duchenne, to find a viable treatment and a cure for Duchenne whilst we will also be completing a very testing personal challenge all for a very good cause.
