Government's new Health proposals - actionduchenne

The only people that I can see excited by Andrew Lansley's proposals to give £80bn NHS budgets GP's to run the NHS are the private healthcare companies.
The Standards of Care for Duchenne demand expert multi disciplinary teams to provide care for a complex condition like Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. We do not have enough UK centres to support the 2000 families today. Where will these GP's send our Duchenne children for expert medical assessment and treatment? Where are the centres for clinical research?
How will these changes improve services for older guys living with Duchenne?
You can see in our news that MP Paul Maynard has asked questions of the Health Minister following our lobby. The government does not seem to want to take any responsibility for conditions like Duchenne.

The survival rates in the UK are poor for Duchenne because our children are denied access to vital healthcare.

We need a National Framework centrally funded for conditions like Duchenne otherwise we will be left with a dwindling service and our best clinicians will move abroad.
