I have a passion for living life to the fullest and trying everything before my time comes to a close... at least then I can say that I’ve done it my way!

Positivity… Determination… Motivation…

Determination or Motivation... you decide!

Going to College studying computer multimedia and graphic design I was enjoying my life where everything was great, I may have been in a wheelchair needing support however I was content and making friends!

I eventually got a chest infection thinking it would run its course however one day I was rushed into hospital as I felt like something lodged in my throat which was dropping my oxygen levels once they cleared it my breathing returned to normal... That was when I was introduced to the ventilator and because I wasn’t eating but primarily the reason was I couldn’t as my muscles became weak.

I then was stuck with the decision shall I carry on the risk and maybe get serious health related problems or have an operation, so I can get nutrition into myself via tube that meant giving up the one thing that gave me pleasure.

I decided to have the operation... I gave up college, having been behind for a month I thought it be too much where I eventually joined Action Duchenne!

I work voluntary for the charity Action Duchenne where I have gained a reputation being an entrepreneur in the field of campaigning though I would like to improve making more awareness opportunities.

In the 1930’s time period my grandfather Samuel Frederick Tilson was a professional football player who played for club Manchester City and represented his country England.

most remembered for his part in Manchester City’s FA Cup victory 1934 at the famous Wembley stadium where he scored two goals against club Portsmouth.

Goals and Aspirations

Joining with Action Duchenne and being involved... I feel like it’s my second family!

I may not have been able to carry on in the footsteps of my grandfather although I still process the same qualities like his determination, passion and motivation, sometimes when campaigning I picture myself at Wembley and when I talk that’s me scoring a goal!

I want to create my own legacy helping others and using my experience of Duchenne mixed with my intense determination using that as my ultimate motivation!

My main objective is to bring about an effective treatment to this generation of young men and eventually a cure for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy... I hope a cure will come in my time but I want to make sure the future generation don’t suffer the same experiences as I have!

I desire to create awareness making opportunities educating people on Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy an illness that for too long has been swept under the carpet...

I have great enthusiasm for making an awareness opportunities and the idea of sitting around asking for pity feeling sorry for myself will not help... To have great success you have to take risks and sometimes push limitations.

I will carry on scoring goals at Wembley and together we may finally get into the final winning the cup to cure Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy!
