I live in the Scottish borders with my wife Emma and children Ben (8) and Lucy (3). We've been involved with Action Duchenne since March 2007.
In the summer of 2007 I cycled from John O'Groats to the border with England at Carter Bar for Action Duchenne. A distance of 360 miles covered in 3 days. The photo above is of us finishing the ride, I'm the little guy in red at the front (that was August 2007, remember the great summer weather that year?).
We've since organised the annual Climb a Ben for Duchenne event which takes place bi-annually in June, July and August. Take a look at www.climbabenforduchenne.com for more info and to take part (next one is 2012)!!
I'm also toying with idea of doing the cycle ride again but this time non stop in 24 hours (with lots of other people to help me hopefully). Not sure I can face all the training again though!
This year we're climbing Ben Lawers.
We'd really like more people to pick a Ben this...
Our friends Chris Thomson and his wife Lori are taking part in the Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon ...
We climbed Ben Nevis this year for the annual Climb a Ben for Duchenne event which takes place e...
Cycled from John O'Groats to Carter Bar (English border) in 3.5 days.
Liestal, Switzerland, August 13, 2010 - Santhera Pharmaceuticals (SIX: SANN) announced today that the European Patent Office granted patent protection for the use of idebenone (brand name CatenaŽ/SovrimaŽ) in the treatment of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and other muscular dystrophies.
Some friends of ours are doing the Great Kindrochit Quadrathlon at Loch Tay on Saturday the 11th July for Action Duchenne.
Well we all managed to get safely up and down Ben Nevis last Saturday. We went from sunshine and t-shirts at the bottom to hats, gloves and waterproofs at the top because of the snow and freezing temperatures. Looking forward to trying a smaller Ben next year!!

Hi Andrew...
Unfortunately our limb had to be cancelled... the day before we were due to do it! ...because of a lack of support and general ignorance by (most of) those supposed to be taking part... The climb has been organised since April... I am so furious with these people it is beyond belief.
I am hoping that this turns out to be just a postponement and that we can get something else organised soon...
