After supporting Action Duchenne with the Seeds of Hope Campaign Acrewood Nursery in Stirling decided they wanted to continue to help raise the awareness of Duchenne and help raise further funds by way of a BBQ.

Carole Wass, the nursery manager, approached various companies prior to the event and was delighted to get sponsorship from Tesco's who provided food and rolls, Farmfoods who donated vouchers, Klondyke Garden Centre providing coal and kindle for the BBQ and finally Majestic Wines who donated for the tombola.

Leading up the BBQ posters were put up and letters handed out to parents who children attend the nursery highlighting the event and asking for donations towards the tombola and brick and brack stalls.

Children of the nursery also helped with baking cakes for the cake stand along with parents contributing and donating as well.

The BBQ event was a great success with everyone getting involved to children selling cakes, staff doing face painting, selling Action Duchenne National Raffle tickets along with sales of the Caledonian Cookbook. Some local families affected by Duchenne also attended the event and helped raise the profile with pictures been taken for 2 newspapers.

Also a big thank you goes to Neil Hamill who cooked those hundreds of burgers and sausages today under blistering conditions between the weather and the BBQ! Without Neil everyone would have been very hungry, thank you.

Due to the fantastic support, kind donations and hard work of everyone the BBQ event not only help to raise the profile of Duchenne and the charity but also raised an incredible £455.61 in total!!

Well done everyone who helped support with this event today and helping make a difference to those living with Duchenne. Thank you.
