Hi, I'm Ian, 27 from South Wales. I was born in 1984, when there was no hope! Hopefully now there is hope for us. I'm flying the flag for us older DMD sufferers! Our time is extremely precious, it really is a race against time.
I use my artistic talents to help ActionDuchenne. I've made numerous products. Currently I'm trying to make more awareness through my book.
I've written a book about my life with DMD, im no great author, but it's going to be interesting i'm sure. It is available in the Action Duchenne web shop! It is called DMD, life art and me.
Heres to all my fallen comrades robbed of life by DMD! Things will change!
You can see my art gallery here at;

A tribute...
This is a tribute to all my fallen comrades
They were not slain by weapons
Nor war wounds but still heroes to the end
Taken by the dark claw of this deadly muscle disease
They were strong to the fore
Strength to their core while all around muscles receded
They were workers, businessmen, artists and friends
An inner power of towering energy known no bounds
Great public orators letting all know their struggle to be equal
To be equal in standards of care, equal in love
Equal in society in a world not geared for them
From innocent childhood to paralysing adulthood
Miserery not their style, happiness and warmth their comforter
No pity for them please
Just remember them
The brave forgotten few
Our brothers, our sons, our fathers, our friends
Taken before their time.
by Ian Griffiths
Heres another poem,
The Duchenne Soldier
O glorious band of brothers we,
Fighting an enemy unseen, Unheard of,
Unknown by the masses, always deadly none-the-less,
We who have no choice, no Kings shilling for us,
No special uniform, only a wrecked body
No regiments, no battalions, no guns, just each other,
From Mother to Brother, Father to Sister,
Genetic disease our conflict, our war,
will we win? - we're still waiting for the magic bullet,
Paralysis the enemy tank, Lack of knowledge - a cruel propagander,
Please help! our battle cry until our dying breath,
A one hundred percent death rate, no parades for us,
Just a quiet family heartbreak,
This is what it means to be a Duchenne Soldier.
