About Me

Let's explain in detail;

My Name is Oliver Baskaran and I am 17 years old. I suffer from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and was diagnosed with this genetic disease at the age of 5. At the time, I didn't know much about it to be quite honest. Until I started to grow up a bit was when I started to realise how severe this disability really is. I'll admit how tough it has been in times and yeah, it really gets you down in the worst of times - but let's not worry about that too much.

Ever since I gathered to learn more about this muscle wasting, genetic disease, i've began to learn to get on with it. To be honest, if I spend more time worrying about it, i'll spend more time missing out on things and that's not how I want it to be. I never get worried about it anymore like I did when I was a bit younger - i've kind of just got to live with it. I'm just like any other person - my brain works, my mind works, it's just my muscles that are someday going to stop working.

My life is great and I have a great family who show their support at all times. I have great friends and I live a very active life. I'm always out and about and try to be as independant as possible.

Future Ambition

I've always wanted to work in the Media Industry and this is why i'm working hard on it at college. Doing a bit of radio presenting would be great for me. I do also think graphic/logo/cd cover/magazine cover design would suite me well. I would also like to do Journalism for a music magazine and possibly ActionDuchenne; it would be very enjoyable as i'm pretty clued up in that criteria.

Let's just wait and see what happens in the future!
