My name is Pauline Brace and I am really pleased to work as an Action Duchenne Regional Development Officer covering Midlands and Wales, a role I took on in December 2008.
I live in Herefordshire on the border of Wales, with my partner Trevor, my 4 children and "Boris", the guinea pig!
My children are Ryan, Ellie and Lauren (who are all teenagers now) and Joshua, who is 10.
Before having children I worked at a pathology laboratory and enjoyed studying Human Biology.
Joshua was diagnosed with Duchenne in 2004 when he was 5 years old.
I am convinced the answer to Duchenne is out there waiting to be found, we may already be on the way to new treatments with the trials ongoing right now. Fundraising to help find treatments has helped the whole family feel we are actually DOING something to fight this. How fast we get there, I feel, is actually in our hands. When money is a limiting factor in getting a treatment, we are determined to raise as much as we can, as quickly as we can.
It really is TIME TO STOP WASTING!
I love chatting with friends, reading a good book, trips to the cinema, swimming and walks in the sunshine. My favourite season is spring, favourite colour is blue and favourite food is Chinese, though chocolate is always welcome!
Favourite place has got to be Peppermint Beach, SW Australia.
For someone to invent non fattening chocolate which is NOT a laxative, that my former metabolic rate would return along with the pre-children figure I took for granted, and to travel the world with enough cash to enjoy it!
The ultimate hope, and in reality at the top of my wish list is that we get treatments for Duchenne for all affected; we aim to raise as much as we can to achieve this and dont intend on stopping until this hope is realised.
The results of the race night can be found on my "Your shout" page here.

Hi Pauline. Thank you for your kind comment. I'm thrilled that we have a good number of people going in the Robin Hood Half Marathon/Marathon; Nottingham says it's time to stop wasting!
Good luck with your sky dive, you're very brave, probably wouldn't catch me doing that. It's also funny that you mention theme park rides because I'm phobic about ones that go upside down; you're not alone! lol.
I would also like to congratulate you on all the previous work you've done for Action Duchenne, fantastic amount of money raised!
Take care sweet heart.
