Why Action Duchenne

Whilst my son does not have Duchennes, my best friend Wendy has 7 year old twin sons who both have DMD. They are the reason I want to do something to help.

I found out about Action Duchenne earlier this year and started my mission to raise funds.

On Friday, 12th June 2009 a 'Ladies Night' was held in Merthyr Tydfil. While the title may conjure up images of strippers and drag artists it was actually a chance for female friends, family and colleagues to get together for a good cause.

Entertainment was provided by a local male vocalist (Mark OXO Jones) and also a disco. (Sorry if that doesn't sound as interesting as a drag artist/stripper).

Over 130 people attended and everyone had a great time. I'm delighted that we were able to raise £1674.

I hope that the money raised will help in some way towards achieving a brighter future for boys with Duchennes.

This was the first fundraising event I have organised but I look forward to raising more money for Action Duchenne in the future.
