Jonathan’s Story - A film by Fay Hart

Fay is a Documentary Practices Graduate who has Cerebral Palsy and uses a wheelchair.

Celebrating Jonathan's life

Fay follows her best friend Jonathan who lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  Had he lived longer than his 27 years and 10 months he would have been 30 on Sunday 3 September 2017.  The short film celebrates Jonathan's life and achievements.

Gaming facilitates the luxury of infinite lives. However, Jonathan had an uncertain future and even required technology to help him breathe. Thus, his life was fragile. Jonathan lived though his gaming, which offered a world of normality and agility.

Jonathan’s story is part of a longer sequence ‘Fragmented Lives’ which offers a unique and incremental perspective. It is a documentary that focuses on the emotional impact of disabilities and personal stories. These raise questions of love and self image, the idea of having more ability through dreams and memories and the virtual world - Fay
