Following in the footsteps of the Cwmbran depot in 2017, join the Three Nations Virgin Pulse walking challenge this summer 2018.
Last year, the lovely Cwmbran team raised a fantastic £1,389.50 for Action Duchenne, as well as improved their fitness levels, worked as a team and had a bit of friendly competition along the way.
This summer, Daryl is rolling out the challenge to the other depots, so you can all take part, clocking as many miles as you can on foot; walking to work, during your breaks, enjoying an evening stroll in the sun, however you are able to take part.
Why take part?
As well as getting fit for 2018, this challenge will help an incredible cause. The sponsorship you raise will go directly to Action Duchenne, the small, UK charity who work relentlessly to find a cure and improve the lives of people and families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy, the condition which Louise Langley (of the Cwmbran dept)’s son Jack lives with.
What is Duchenne?
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a rare and complex genetic muscle wasting condition, mainly affecting males. It one of the most severe muscular dystrophies, with muscle weakness appearing in early childhood between the ages of 2-5.
When Action Duchenne was founded in 2001, the average life expectancy for a young person living in the UK with Duchenne was late teens. It is now 27.
Action Duchenne have brought about real change to people living with Duchenne, but want to achieve even more for the families and young people in the community.
Action Duchenne want a world where people’s lives are no longer limited by Duchenne and you can help make this a reality by taking on the Virgin Pulse challenge and push yourself to cover as many miles as possible!
