Help Make a Life Beyond Duchenne Possible – Every Month

You are here: Home / Help Make a Life Beyond Duchenne Possible – Every Month
START GIVING MONTHLY

Every child, young person, and adult deserves a future full of possibilities—not one defined by Duchenne muscular dystrophy. By becoming a monthly donor, you’ll provide vital, ongoing support to help individuals and families navigate life with Duchenne. Here’s how your gift makes a difference:

💬 1-to-1 Support

Our dedicated Support Officers are just a call, video chat, or WhatsApp message away. They’re here to help anyone affected by Duchenne—including families, individuals, and professionals—with advice, guidance, and a listening ear.

👥 Monthly Online Support Groups

Connection matters. We offer safe, welcoming spaces for different parts of the Duchenne community:

  • Dads Against Duchenne
  • Time Out – A Space for Mums
  • Grandparents Together
  • Open Space – for anyone impacted by Duchenne

These monthly groups offer understanding, shared experience, and the comfort of knowing you’re not alone.

🧠 Group Counselling for Parents & Carers

Living with Duchenne is challenging—for the whole family. Our 8-week online group counselling programme, led by professional counsellors, helps parents and carers explore topics like:

  • Anxiety and anticipatory grief
  • Coping strategies
  • Emotional resilience

🌱 Turning Point (Ages 8–14)

The transition from childhood to adolescence is hard—especially when mobility declines. Turning Point supports young people with Duchenne through this change with:

  • Fun, social online sessions
  • Talks from expert speakers
  • Peer connection to reduce isolation and build confidence

🚀 Yes I Can – Transition to Adulthood (Ages 14+)

“Independence doesn’t mean living alone. It means feeling empowered to do what you want.”
— Ravi Mehta, Yes I Can Project Lead and living with Duchenne

Yes I Can is a groundbreaking programme helping teens and young adults with Duchenne gain confidence, skills, and friendships through:

  • Online workshops and mentoring
  • In-person residentials at the Calvert Trust in Devon and the Lake District
  • A UK-wide peer network empowering young people to thrive

🎓 Supporting Schools

Children with Duchenne thrive with the right support at school—but educators often need help getting started. We provide:

  • Whole-school assemblies to build understanding
  • Interactive classroom sessions
  • Guidance for EHCPs (or equivalents)
  • Support for working with local authorities
  • Easy-to-follow school info packs

“The session helped our whole team feel more confident. We’re better equipped and more aware of how to support students with Duchenne.”
“Lenny’s school visit changed everything—his friends are more supportive, and now he has the full-time 1:1 help he needs.”

🌟 Your Monthly Gift Means Everything

By giving monthly, you create steady, reliable support that Duchenne families can count on. You help ensure that no one faces this journey alone.

Become a monthly donor today—and help make room for hope, strength, and possibility.

Mental Health Awareness Week – Alex’s Blog

Written by Alex Berbank Wednesday: Getting Into The Swing of Things The changes yesterday were about removing phones from certain times in the house, namely when eating, before bed and when me and my Fiancee are in the house together. The idea was that we would be more connected, talk more and just be a …
