Action Duchenne sprinkles a touch of magic for brave Duchenne families

16 December 2020 by Lynnette

The hundreds of children, young people and adults living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) face many challenges, which have been exacerbated by COVID-19 and lock down.

2 year old Michael from Scotland

At a time when it is simply not safe or possible to meet Father Christmas in person, we have arranged for the Big Man himself to speak directly to each family, along with a Festive Show full of sparkles and fun! Through the magic of Zoom, Father Christmas and his Elves will bring a wonderful festive experience to families, free of charge.

Supported by Pears Foundation, Contact and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, we are proud to bring the magic of Christmas, a glimmer of hope and sense of normality to these children, young people and families across the UK.

Michael, big sister Eve and their family are meeting Father Christmas in our Grotto next week

Florence, our Chief Elf and National Director, said;

Nothing compares to the excitement in a child’s face when they see Father Christmas and experience the magic of Christmas and I am delighted to offer this to so many of our brave families.

We’ve still got a few spaces left – sign up now!

Action Duchenne Residential Weekends: “Adventure is still possible”

Action Duchenne Residential Weekends: “Adventure is still possible“ With a Duchenne diagnosis, it often feels that there is an ever-growing list of things that become more difficult. The freedom to choose to take part in activities, to continue hobbies or even just to pop round to a friend’s house changes into something that needs planning, …

Honouring George and Finding Community

Honouring George and Finding Community Remembering George one year on. “If I’d never experienced George having Duchenne, I wouldn’t be half the person I am now. He taught me so much about life. I truly believe that boys with Duchenne are just the most awesome people in the world.”  On Sunday 26th April 2026, Louise Ruddick ran the …

Turning Challenges into Change – Our Story with Action Duchenne

I was introduced to Action Duchenne by the Muscle Team in Newcastle shortly after Oliver’s diagnosis in 2017. In those early, overwhelming days, their support meant everything. Members of the Support Team would call just to let me talk, vent, cry — whatever I needed. They were simply there, and that’s why I choose to support them every …
