AD Champions take on London Landmarks Half Marathon

4 April 2023 by Victoria Edwards

On Sunday 2nd April our seven AD Champions took to the streets of London to run the half marathon London Landmarks route. The weather was good – no rain and a slight chilly breeze to cool down our hard working champions – and the sun eventually came out!

Our cheer team got a great spot along the Victoria Embankment, meaning we could see our runners during their first mile and in their last mile.

Here is what some of our amazing runners had to say post event.

Thank you so much for yesterday, it was absolutely amazing, we loved it.

James

I am over the moon with that! Thank you for the support, it made such a difference!

Rach

Congrats everyone! Massive achievement completed by us all. Thank you to the cheer squad as well. A real pick up when starting to struggle.

Graham

Well done everyone. Thanks for the support. It’s been amazing.

Annie

Yes it was a great run! Thank you for all of your help organising – I was so lucky to be a part of this special day!

Skye

Thank you for great support!

Dave

Collectively our runners have managed to help us raise £3685.74.

We spend 87p in every £1 on our charitable activities, to help us achieve our vision; a world where lives are no longer limited by Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

Show your support!

There is still time to show our runners your support.

Turning Challenges into Change – Our Story with Action Duchenne

I was introduced to Action Duchenne by the Muscle Team in Newcastle shortly after Oliver’s diagnosis in 2017. In those early, overwhelming days, their support meant everything. Members of the Support Team would call just to let me talk, vent, cry — whatever I needed. They were simply there, and that’s why I choose to support them every …

Louise’s London Marathon Story

Louise’s London Marathon Story Written by Louise Ruddick “My relationship with Action Duchenne came about very spontaneously at the beginning of January this year. My brother, George, was diagnosed with Duchenne back in 1992, just before his third birthday. He was obviously too young to be aware however the impact that it had on our …

Parent Story: Scott and Vicki share their story of their son’s diagnosis of Duchenne and their family’s journey.

Parent Story: Scott and Vicki share their story of their son’s diagnosis of Duchenne and their family’s journey. “I was just sitting in the room and the doctor’s mouth was moving but I couldn’t hear anything that was coming out of it”  Parents Scott and Vicki have two children, Josh and Layla. When Josh was just …
