This month there will be an opportunity for everyone interested in learning more about nutrition and Duchenne to participate in two online focus group sessions.
These sessions are the start of the sharing of key recommendations from the soon-to-be-finalised DMD Care UK guidance on nutrition in childhood, and for peer learning facilitated by members of the Nutrition Working Group. These are a pilot which the team are hoping to extend to regular sessions.
Sessions will run for 45-60 minutes:
- 10 minutes sharing what the recommendations mean practically – ideas and top tips for managing nutrition.
- 35-50 minutes facilitated open discussion, with the opportunity to ask questions and hear from other families sharing their experiences of what works well.
Everyone is welcome to join, though sessions will be themed, with the first two focusing on:
- Nutrition in the early days/when starting steroids – Thursday, 25th of September 6pm
- Nutrition when approaching loss of ambulation – Tuesday, 30th of September 6pm
The Nutrition Working Group are keen to make each session as useful and tailored as possible, and have requested you email any suggestions and questions to Laurie Cave at Laurie.Cave@glasgow.ac.uk.
