Thank you for helping us build a community

November 8, 2019 by Lynnette

Wow, we’ve had a busy few weeks here at AD HQ, delivering one of our 3 key objectives of ‘building a community’. Our team have barely touched the ground.

Science on Tour

We’ve brought the hugely successful, Science on Tour events to London, Norwich, Leeds, Newcastle, Port Talbot and Bristol over September and October.

Advocacy and presentations

In the last fortnight alone, our team have delivered the following: presentations to raise the profile of Duchenne to two community groups, a lecture on ‘real life with Duchenne’ to 70 student physiotherapists and a meeting with a school to help advocate for a young person living with Duchenne.

Bringing you the Conference

At the same time, we are all working hard to bring the Action Duchenne International Conference 2019 to our families and international Duchenne community next week.

We are intensely proud of how we bring the community together, how we work to the same goals of empowering and supporting families throughout their Duchenne journey and how we raise the profile of the condition.

Powered by you

This important work is powered by donations we receive. Often, the work carries on behind the scenes, from taking a 2 hour phone call with a newly diagnosed family, helping them deal with the early stages of the process, right through to helping families navigate adaptations, and dealing with loss.

We are often so busy serving our amazing community that we forget to shout about the work we are doing. We are absolutely dedicated to making life better for everyone living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and want to thank our supporters for helping us make this happen.
