Winter Wishes at Hyde Park

On the 27th November, we were thrilled to offer complimentary tickets to 8 of our families to the Winter Wishes event at the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. This is an accessible event, where groups that may otherwise have a difficult time attending the event can have a magical day out, with free entry and unrestricted access to over 100 rides and attractions. We had a magical day!

“My family and I enjoyed tickets to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland – Winter Wishes this year, this was our first experience at Winter Wonderland, our boys 4 & 8 were gobsmacked at the sheer size of the park and all it had to offer. The experience was great especially down to the reduce capacity and free for all on rides, our boys were in their element down to the amount of rides they could go on, the circus, the food and my eldest even won a giant snowman teddy we had to carry all the way home on the train! We appreciate the opportunity that Action Duchenne gave us through the generosity of Winter Wonderland.” Duchenne Parent

There was a huge variety of activities to take part in, such as ice skating and fairground rides. Lots of our families loved the ferris wheel and the carousel. They also enjoyed the entertainment, Christmas markets with festive treats and all the yummy food. It was great to see smiling faces and it was the perfect way to enjoy time with their loved ones, making memories that will last a lifetime.

“Allie has a lovely time at Winter Wishes. It was a very special mother and daughter day for us, her brother requires a lot of extra care, and I often feel guilty for not being able to give her the attention she needs all the time. We didn’t stop smiling as it was such a lovely day. She loved the rides, seeing Father Christmas on his parade round the Wonderland and was absolutely captivated by Zippo’s Circus and the Ice Kingdom. I just loved seeing her smiling, happy and carefree for a change. Thank you so much for our tickets!” Duchenne Parent

Thank you to Hyde Park Winter Wonderland, and to the amazing families who came to share the day with us.

Turning Challenges into Change – Our Story with Action Duchenne

I was introduced to Action Duchenne by the Muscle Team in Newcastle shortly after Oliver’s diagnosis in 2017. In those early, overwhelming days, their support meant everything. Members of the Support Team would call just to let me talk, vent, cry — whatever I needed. They were simply there, and that’s why I choose to support them every …

Louise’s London Marathon Story

Louise’s London Marathon Story Written by Louise Ruddick “My relationship with Action Duchenne came about very spontaneously at the beginning of January this year. My brother, George, was diagnosed with Duchenne back in 1992, just before his third birthday. He was obviously too young to be aware however the impact that it had on our …
