Our amazing Action Duchenne Champions – fundraisers, advocates and volunteers

At our Annual International Conference 2023 we were proud to hold our first ever awards ceremony which celebrated the amazing contributions to our charity made by members of our community. They make a immeasurable difference to our work and to the lives of those living with Duchenne and we are so grateful for their hard work, dedication and commitment.

We were honoured that our awards ceremony was hosted by our charity patron Harry Hill.

AD Champions

Deborah O’Doherty

For her tenacious commitment to spreading awareness of Duchenne and our cause.

Geoff Snaith

For his continued commitment to supporting our work with donations, organising fundraising and awareness events in his local community over the years.

Jess Breeze

For her unwavering support in volunteering for us and helping us to achieve our life changing work:

For hosting an outstanding Dinner Dance in aid of our work, raising over £50,000

Rachel and Edward

For organising an amazing Holi colour run event in their school, which also get them a TV appearance on BBC Look North raising awareness of Duchenne and our work.

James Philo and Rachel Sharp

Two very humble people whose legs have been very busy and commited to running (and in James’s case cycling) miles and miles to raise awareness for our cause. They always have a smile on our faces and wear our running vests with pride.

Lyndsey, Matthew, Riley, Logan and Faith Kaye

For their part in making our film “We are Action Duchenne” possible and winning an award in two categories in the EVCOM Clarion Awards – GOLD in Health and Wellbeing and SILVER in Social Welfare.

Sanjeev is a truly talented musican and journalist, and it has been so wonderful to have his support at our International Conferences and transition projects, he is a great role model and we can’t thank him enough for his time, effort and positivity.

For his exceptional commitment to raising awareness and supporting our cause with such humbleness and kindness

For their willingness to share how our life changing work is needed and in September supporting us with an amazing 7.9km walk with their friends and family for World Duchenne Awareness Day.

Benjamin has been involved with Action Duchenne for many years and has been a mentor in our groundbreaking ‘Yes I Can’ programme supporting young people living with Duchenne in the transition to adulthood.
