Drew’s Way First Steps walk

August 4, 2021 by Lynnette

A big thank you and congratulations to new Duchenne parents Molly Pitts and Zak Denny who organised the hugely successful ‘First Steps 7 mile walk’ this weekend along Lowestoft Beach.

Their little boy, Drew (1), was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy on Boxing Day 2020. Since his diagnosis, Drew’s parents have taken action, setting up a group on Facebook called ‘Living with DMD #DrewsWay’ along with organising the ‘First Steps Walk’ for Action Duchenne.

Supported by friends, family and even the local Deputy Mayor, Molly, Zak and Drew made the event an absolute success. The sea of blue Action Duchenne t shirts caught the locals’ attention and truly waved the flag for the Duchenne community.

The Lowestoft Journal’s coverage of the event

A resounding thank you to Molly and Zak’s support network of amazing friends and family, who have not only helped them navigate the Duchenme diagnosis, but also helped them raise a staggering £1,914 for Action Duchenne.

87p in every £1

Thank you to each and every one of the ‘Drew’s Way’ supporters and new Action Duchenne Members for your dedication to our aims and objectives.

It’s important for us to keep you informed where your money is being spent and we are delighted to tell you that 87p in every £1 we raise, here at Action Duchenne is spent on our charitable activities;
