Hold your own virtual competition

Whatever you and your friends enjoy doing; from baking to sewing, art to crochet, you can turn it into a virtual competition.

Create fundraising page

How to make it happen?

  • Pick your activity and deadline for entries
  • Set up your JustGiving page so you can ask for sponsorship for the competition, remember you can ask participants for donations take part, or ask people to donate to vote. We have a team page set up on JustGiving so your fundraising can contribute to the community total!
  • Decide how you are going to judge the competition, will there be a prize (bearing in mind social distancing guidelines), who is going to judge/vote for their favourite.
  • Start to share your competition, speak to friends, family, your local community. You may have a local community Facebook group, or groups which share things to do during the isolation time. Share your show far and wide.
  • Share your story, tell people WHY you are doing this, what is your connection to Duchenne muscular dystrophy? What does our charity mean to you?
  • Remember, share your JustGiving page far and wide to get maximum fundraising for your hard work!
  • Have fun and remember to share your photos with us!

(Check out the virtual Bake Off the Ellison and Tyler family held, they posted pictures on their social media and asked their friends and family to vote! Here’s the winner pictured above!)

Honouring George and Finding Community

Honouring George and Finding Community Remembering George one year on. “If I’d never experienced George having Duchenne, I wouldn’t be half the person I am now. He taught me so much about life. I truly believe that boys with Duchenne are just the most awesome people in the world.”  On Sunday 26th April 2026, Louise Ruddick ran the …

Turning Challenges into Change – Our Story with Action Duchenne

I was introduced to Action Duchenne by the Muscle Team in Newcastle shortly after Oliver’s diagnosis in 2017. In those early, overwhelming days, their support meant everything. Members of the Support Team would call just to let me talk, vent, cry — whatever I needed. They were simply there, and that’s why I choose to support them every …

Louise’s London Marathon Story

Louise’s London Marathon Story Written by Louise Ruddick “My relationship with Action Duchenne came about very spontaneously at the beginning of January this year. My brother, George, was diagnosed with Duchenne back in 1992, just before his third birthday. He was obviously too young to be aware however the impact that it had on our …
