Welcome to our new National Director

Welcome to our new National Director

10 February 2020 by Neil

We are delighted to welcome Florence Boulton to Action Duchenne as our new National Director.

Florence has considerable leadership and operational experience in the not for profit sector with a particular focus in youth and education programmes, in the UK and overseas.  Florence has worked at the most senior levels in a number of organisations over the past 25 years and will bring a range of innovative ideas to the charity.

I am delighted to have been appointed as National Director of Action Duchenne. It is an honour for me to become part of charity so dedicated to making a positive difference. Since I attended the International Conference in November, I have been inspired to see how Action Duchenne’s work is respected by our stakeholders. Speaking to our families and partners and seeing the feedback we get, it is great to see how they recognise the care and patience that goes into the support we are committed to providing for young people and their families. I am looking forward to working together with our dedicated trustees, volunteers and staff team and hope to build on our work with other charity and stakeholder partners.  By developing shared areas of interest, I am confident that we can identify how our vital work can further support the needs of our community.

Florence Boulton – National Director

I am so delighted to welcome Florence and am confident she will quickly establish herself as an effective leader to enable the charity to continue its vital work. We all look forward to working with Florence to engage with families, support research and campaign for access to help and opportunities, working towards a world where lives are no longer limited by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”

Turning Challenges into Change – Our Story with Action Duchenne

I was introduced to Action Duchenne by the Muscle Team in Newcastle shortly after Oliver’s diagnosis in 2017. In those early, overwhelming days, their support meant everything. Members of the Support Team would call just to let me talk, vent, cry — whatever I needed. They were simply there, and that’s why I choose to support them every …

Louise’s London Marathon Story

Louise’s London Marathon Story Written by Louise Ruddick “My relationship with Action Duchenne came about very spontaneously at the beginning of January this year. My brother, George, was diagnosed with Duchenne back in 1992, just before his third birthday. He was obviously too young to be aware however the impact that it had on our …

Parent Story: Scott and Vicki share their story of their son’s diagnosis of Duchenne and their family’s journey.

Parent Story: Scott and Vicki share their story of their son’s diagnosis of Duchenne and their family’s journey. “I was just sitting in the room and the doctor’s mouth was moving but I couldn’t hear anything that was coming out of it”  Parents Scott and Vicki have two children, Josh and Layla. When Josh was just …
