Hive – chat | support | info

You are here: Home / Hive – chat | support | info

We know how overwhelming and relentless the day to day life admin of a parent carer of a child, young person or adult living with Duchenne is.

Our online support sessions are a space to come if you need to share, offload, listen, get support, seek expert advice or ask any questions you have that you are not sure who to ask.

We are here, with you.

You can either have your camera on and chat, or keep your camera off and stay muted. Whatever way you choose, do pop along.

Friday Hive

Takes place every last Friday of the month from 11am-12am

Evening Hive

Takes place on the first Thursday of every month from 8pm – 9pm

D.A.D’s Night – Dads Against Duchenne

We know that being a Duchenne dad isn’t always easy and so we have a night just for dads – Dad’s Against Duchenne.Action Duchenne’s Outreach Officer Alex explains what it’s all about and why it’s so important.

“I know myself that sometimes when I’ve been in a tough place the last thing I feel like doing is unloading everything and talking through it bit by bit. In these cases it’s just nice to have a laugh with a few mates who get it, and know that I could talk about it if wanted to but they’d also understand if I didn’t. After speaking to a lot of dads I feel like we already have that community, we just need a place to hang out.”

Honouring George and Finding Community

Honouring George and Finding Community Remembering George one year on. “If I’d never experienced George having Duchenne, I wouldn’t be half the person I am now. He taught me so much about life. I truly believe that boys with Duchenne are just the most awesome people in the world.”  On Sunday 26th April 2026, Louise Ruddick ran the …

Turning Challenges into Change – Our Story with Action Duchenne

I was introduced to Action Duchenne by the Muscle Team in Newcastle shortly after Oliver’s diagnosis in 2017. In those early, overwhelming days, their support meant everything. Members of the Support Team would call just to let me talk, vent, cry — whatever I needed. They were simply there, and that’s why I choose to support them every …

Louise’s London Marathon Story

Louise’s London Marathon Story Written by Louise Ruddick “My relationship with Action Duchenne came about very spontaneously at the beginning of January this year. My brother, George, was diagnosed with Duchenne back in 1992, just before his third birthday. He was obviously too young to be aware however the impact that it had on our …
