Overview
Focussing on the complete project life-cycle of a new, fully funded support projects, the Project Engagement & Support Coordinator will be responsible for all tasks involved in creating and growing groups for Duchenne Grandparents, Duchenne Parents/Caregivers, young people and adults living with Duchenne.

Young people and adults living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) face many challenges in their foreshortened lives. Our support is vital to thousands of young people, adults and families living with Duchenne. We developed our programmes in response to their needs and since 2017 we have been developing a sustainable, long-term funding model for this work.

About the role
This is an opportunity for you to make a significant contribution within our small yet vital patient organisation. Responsible to and supported by the central Community Fundraising & Support Officer, the Project Engagement & Support Coordinator will;
- Receive training and full support in order to fulfill your role including; stewardship, recruiting for events, managing online meetings, how to engage and support Duchenne families
- Work closely with Project Marketing & Support Coordinator, volunteers and the central Action Duchenne team
- Build on the existing project proposal to create a clear and achievable plan to engage beneficiaries, execute the peer-to-peer support groups, build momentum and expand the project
- Delivery and execution of your project plan, such as writing and hosting group webinars, inviting and recruiting attendees, liaising with speakers and stakeholders, hosting the online events
- Working with the Project Marketing & Support Coordinator to follow up, get feedback, recruit for focus groups for impact purposes
- Create a legacy plan for the support groups to continue after initial 6 month period, including researching and writing bids for continued funding

Essential criteria;
- A strong commitment to the work of Action Duchenne
- Flexible approach to working methods and service delivery, and a willingness to learn new skills
- An interest in engaging stakeholders
- An understanding of the importance of supporting and empowering disabled people and their families
- Ability to work with a variety of groups e.g. Duchenne families and health and educational professionals
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating respect, empathy and positivity
- Diligent, methodical with exceptional attention to detail
- Good organisational skills
- The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines, managing and prioritising a demanding and diverse workload
- The ability to work in a transparent way, as part of a team
Desired criteria;
- Lived experience of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (ie as a person living with Duchenne, a parent/caregiver, sibling, or Grandparent)
- Experience in supporting people with disabilities
- Experience in working with teenagers and young adults
- Track record in igniting people’s interest in events, engaging stakeholders and making great things happen!
