An update from our Scottish Advocacy Officer, John Miller:
“At a Disability Cross Party meeting on the 27th November 2018, the Secretary of the S.P.F.A. Ryan Galloway and myself, John Miller, put forward a written submission and verbal presentation on behalf of Wheelchair Soccer in Scotland which was very well received. This has led to the Chairperson, Jeremy Balfour M.S.P., organizing a motion which was supported by 29 M.S.P.s, and has now produced a Cross Party Debate on the subject, set for Wednesday the 6th of February 2019 at 5:15pm.
We know this is very short notice for all those involved with Wheelchair Soccer but would stress the importance of a good showing in the Public Gallery of those who enjoy this sport, however it would be advantageous if all members could be at the Scottish Parliament around 4pm to allow access for Wheelchairs using the elevator/lifts to the Public Gallery. At this point I would like thank Ryan Galloway and the S.P.F.A. Committee, Action Duchenne, Muscular Dystrophy UK, and the Scottish Parliament for giving me the opportunity to raise this subject. The enjoyment displayed by all the teams is just marvellous to see. I hope this brings the recognition of the work done by the S.P.F.A. and all the other volunteers.”
