CEO’s Message: Welcoming New Trustees and Farewell to Victoria Penrice

Action Duchenne is delighted to announce the appointment of three distinguished professionals to the Board of Trustees: Anna Mabile, Dr. Vicky Pleydell, and Greg Hill. Each brings a wealth of experience and a shared commitment to advancing our mission.

Anna Mabile ACMA CGMA

Anna Mabile is a seasoned accountant with over 15 years of comprehensive experience in finance and operations. Anna has demonstrated exceptional leadership, overseeing all financial activities and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Her extensive background includes managing ERP system implementations and leading financial reporting and audits. Anna’s expertise in strategic planning and change management will be invaluable to our financial stewardship and operational excellence.

“I am excited to join Action Duchenne as a Trustee, motivated by a desire to support families affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy. With a background in finance, starting from an apprenticeship at OPEL and an MSc in Business Studies, I bring a unique blend of creativity and accounting expertise. My career has focused on financial performance optimization and innovative communication with non-financial stakeholders, skills I believe will benefit Action Duchenne.“

Dr. Vicky Pleydell

Vicky Pleydell is a retired GP with 35 years of service in the NHS, including 20 years in health services management and leadership. As the Chief Officer of Hambleton Richmondshire and Whitby Clinical Commissioning Group, Vicky managed a substantial budget and led significant improvements in patient services. Her experience with involving patients, carers, and clinicians in service development, and her commitment to compassionate care align perfectly with our values. Vicky’s background also includes educational roles, such as Co-Director of the Nurse Practitioner Programme at the University of York, reflecting her dedication to healthcare innovation and education.

“I am a mother of four and grandmother of four beautiful boys. One of my grandsons was diagnosed with Duchenne in 2016 aged just over 2. As a grandmother to Sebastian I want to try to make a difference to the life he has, both personally but also if possible help to influence the world he inhabits in a wider sense, so he and others living with Duchenne to have the best life possible.”

Greg Hill
Greg is a chartered manager with over a decade of experience in operations and people management in public services. Currently serving as Transactional Services Supervisor at the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), Greg excels in managing large teams and delivering high-quality services. His accomplishments include leading significant change projects, enhancing operational compliance, and developing apprenticeship programmes. Greg’s strategic thinking and resilience in the face of challenges will greatly benefit our organisational development and stakeholder engagement efforts.

“Since Arthur’s Duchenne diagnosis, Action Duchenne has been an incredible source of support for our family. Their guidance has helped us navigate a challenging time, and it continues to be invaluable. Now, I’m honoured to join the board and use my professional experience in the public sector to do what I can to support this amazing charity and the Duchenne community.”

“On behalf of the Board of Trustees at Action Duchenne, I extend a warm welcome
to Anna, Vicky and Greg as our newest trustees. Their diverse experiences and dedication to our mission will be instrumental in driving our initiatives forward. Please join us in welcoming them to the team.” Gary Fegan, Trustee of Action Duchenne

Farewell and Thank You to Victoria Penrice

We would also like to take this opportunity to bid a fond farewell to Victoria Penrice, who has been an invaluable member of our Board of Trustees. Victoria joined the Board in January 2020 and has brought significant expertise and dedication to her role, helping to shape the strategic direction of Action Duchenne.

“…I have so much enjoyed my time with Action Duchenne. We have faced many challenges and now the Charity is on a much stronger financial footing, and it has a good team. I am proud to have been associated with you all – what a great bunch of people.” Victoria Penrice

“Victoria’s contributions have been instrumental in driving our mission forward, and she will be greatly missed. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Victoria for her unwavering commitment and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.” Gary Fegan, Trustee of Action Duchenne
