Our new Information and Support Pack for Schools is here and don’t miss our online Turning Point sessions for begins for 8-14 year olds!
We have been working hard behind the scenes to develop our information and support pack for schools. Many schools won’t have come across Duchenne before and many of our families can feel frustrated by the lack of accessible information.
There’s so much to know and understand about this complex, ever changing condition. We’ve compiled advice, information and resources that will help schools to support pupils who live with Duchenne on their journey through school into one hands on guide. We’ve got everything from wheelchair use in schools, classroom support, information on which professionals should be involved, links to extra resources and a checklist going all the way from EYFS to Key Stage 4.
You can download it free here and share it easily with anyone involved in your child’s care.
Turning Point
We are starting our much-needed support project for 8 – 14 year olds living with Duchenne with online sessions. Our first session is taking place on Wednesday 18th October at 6pm via Zoom. It’ll be relaxed and informal with some games and a chance for young people to meet each other. Everyone is welcome to join – siblings and parents too! There’s no pressure to join in, but we know from the feedback from our Yes I Can transition to adulthood project that just meeting others who live with Duchenne has a ppositive impact on everyone.
Get in touch with dawn@actionduchenne.org with any questions.
We’d love to see you there:
