We have a thorough peer review process, making sure that each project is investigated before we provide funding. Due to this, we fund valid, safe and worthwhile projects. It can take up to 6 months for a project to pass through our stringent peer review process before becoming funded by Action Duchenne.
Each time we ask for project proposals, we specify what area or topic they should focus on and who is eligible to apply. In this way we ensure that we can meet the aims set out in our research strategy and advance Duchenne research as quickly as possible.
Action Duchenne have implemented a two stage peer-review process that involves independent researchers and families. Only if the application passes both rounds will a project be funded.
Grant monitoring
Once a contract is placed, Action Duchenne monitors each grant. Principal investigators leading a project are required to submit regular reports or updates around significant project milestones. These are assessed and compared to the original project aims. After a project is complete Action Duchenne will share the main findings (non-confidential data) and encourage these key figures to present at our annual international conference and engage with our supporters and delegates.
