The 2.6 challenge – Save the UK’s Charities Campaign

The Covid-19 pandemic is having a catastrophic effect on UK charities leading to an estimated loss of £4 billion for the sector.

Action Duchenne is no different

In the next 6 months alone we are facing unexpected losses of income of nearly £150,000 due to the cancellation of events and fundraising activities.

In response to this crisis, the UK’s mass participation sports event industry has come together to create The 2.6 Challenge, a nationwide fundraising campaign to Save the UK’s Charities.

MAKE IT HAPPEN – create a fundraiser or donate

• Dream up an activity based around the number 2.6 or 26 that suits your skills (and follows government guidelines on exercise and social distancing); it can be as crazy as you like!
• You could do anything from 2.6 miles, 2.6k press ups, 26 cupcakes, 2.6 metres, 260 laps of the garden

There is incredible support building for this campaign including from UK government, Sport England, BBC, Institute of Fundraising, Virgin Money Giving and JustGiving.  The organisers aim to raise £67 million for the UK’s charities by the end of April.
