Working week:21 hours per week / 3 day per week Monday to Friday (days to be agreed)
Hours:9am to 5pm
Salary:£40-45k per annum pro rata
Location:Home-based (until our return to a new office)

General summary

Action Duchenne was established in 2001 as the first national charity dedicated to supporting young people, adults and their families living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.  87p in every £1 we raise is invested in charitable activities; ground-breaking research, world-class educational and support programmes and life-changing campaigns.

We are looking to appoint a dynamic Head of Fundraising and Partnerships (part-time) to work closely with the National Director to advance the success of relationships with key partners and across functional stakeholders. 

About you

The successful Head of Fundraising and Partnerships will have a strong commitment to Action Duchenne’s aims and objectives and a drive to deliver outcomes. You will build trusting partnerships and establish a comprehensive digital fundraising and stakeholder engagement strategy to drive revenue growth and educational understanding through our fundraising community. 

You will be a self-starter with a hands-on attitude to work. As Head of Fundraising and Partnerships you will work in a collaborative and flexible manner with our team of staff, volunteers, committees and Trustees. 

Principal duties and responsibilities

  • The Head of Fundraising and Partnerships is part of the Senior Management Team, leading Action Duchenne’s income generation, including; corporate partnerships, digital engagement, trust and foundation funding, fundraising events and campaigns.
  • Strategic responsibility for fundraising including partnership development and maintaining the charity’s strong relationship with our wide range of funding partners.
  • To manage and build upon the income streams for the charity.
  • Development and execution of new campaigns and propositions that maximise our digital income potential.
  • Evolve and enforce the Action Duchenne communications and brand guidelines to ensure all communications are consistent and sensitive and effective.

The Head of Fundraising and Partnerships will be accountable for generating income, and therefore, significant experience in public fundraising through creative leadership is crucial. Your record of sustained increases in income will set you apart.  The aptitude to work through relationships is key and the Head of Fundraising and Partnerships must have the judgement, communication, influencing skills and a high level of accuracy in execution. 

Additional information

In order to deliver the stated aims of this post, a degree of flexibility is needed and the post holder may be required to perform work not specifically referred to above.  

Such duties will fall within the scope of the job within the appropriate pay grade.  The job description will therefore be subject to periodic review with the post holder to ensure it accurately reflects the duties of the job.

Occasional evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu will be given.

Experience & knowledge:

Experience in fundraising, including planning, evaluating and delivering successful campaigns that drive response.E

Ability to develop effective and proportionate processes and systems for managing and monitoring grantsE
Strong communication and negotiating skills including public engagementE
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a demanding and diverse workload; the ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.E
Experience in developing and delivering fundraising strategies and raising funding from a range of sources, for example from trusts, public and corporate sector organisations, businesses, individual donors and public appeals.E
Knowledge of good practice, due diligence, monitoring and evaluation in the context of grants programmesE
