Maggie and Maria are two wonderful volunteers who have shaken their buckets at collections, cheered at various events, as well helping at our International Conference.
They’ve taken part in, and organised many fundraising activities including easter egg hunts, bake sales, abseils and skydives to name just a few.
Their next challenge is to walk 20km in under 4 hours later this month. They are already well on their way to smashing their £1000 target.
All of us here at Action Duchenne will be cheering them on every single step of the way.
Read their story here:
Me and my sister Maria, decided to challenge ourselves to walk 20km in less than 4 hours to show our support for Jude and all people living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
My best friend’s son, Jude, has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He is also one of my daughter’s best friends. His diagnosis 8 years ago profoundly affected our lives.
Jude is a remarkable boy who has a great sense of humour. His outlook on life is positive and he handles his condition admirably.
He began secondary school last year and started using a powered wheelchair to whizz around.
I’m so proud of Jude and his family and the way they handle everything that life throws at them.
Action Duchenne is a charity that supported his family through his diagnosis and the people who work there are amazing.
The support they provide for the Duchenne Community is amazing and I am privileged to volunteer for them.
