We want to say a big thank you to Sound Force Big Band and The Velvet Tones for the amazing concerts they put on for Action Duchenne in December and January. They raised an amazing £620 for Action Duchenne.
Dougie Young, who is 8 years old and lives with Duchenne, lit up the room even more by dancing for the audience and putting smiles on everyone’s faces at the concert in December.
None of the audience had ever heard of Becker or Duchenne muscular dystrophy. So it was a really good opportunity to speak about it and to increase awareness around the importance of our vision; a world where lives are no longer limited by Duchenne.
I am so proud of my son for standing up and dancing, and at one point asking the crowd to cheer for his younger sister because she was too shy to dance. I think he showed the room just how amazingly capable people living with Duchenne are.
It was a magical evening. I can’t thank Sound Force enough for putting this concert on for us!

The Velvet Tones, who supported Sound Force in December held another amazing concert for Action Duchenne on January 20th at Oxford Golf Club.
Young Dougie, eight years old, who is afflicted with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, stood up and spoke about the condition on behalf of Action Duchenne. A lovely speech from a brave little boy: it was a very moving moment and one that we will remember for a long time. Another reminder of why we do these gigs.
